Effective communication among researchers and practitioners, and with community stakeholders, is essential for progress in sustainability. Amid a growing awareness for the need to improve communication among these groups, a variety of media have arisen for disseminating information, establishing collaborations, and tackling ongoing challenges. However, this new landscape raises questions of how best to engage interested individuals and groups, and where responsibilities for communication lie. This session will convene discussion on perspectives and innovations for effective communication, led by representatives from Michigan Sustainability Cases (MSC) and the Michigan Journal of Sustainability (MJS). Both initiatives are invested in pursuing novel approaches through online publication and use of multimedia elements to reach a diverse audience. Participants are encouraged to share their strategies for fostering dialogue and to explore partnerships with MSC and MJS.
