Laura Briley

Great Lakes Integrated Sciences and Assessments
Climatologist
Ann Arbor, MI
As a research associate for the Great Lakes Integrated Sciences & Assessments (GLISA) Center, Laura works collaboratively with other GLISA scientists and climate change decision makers to bring useful and usable climate information to climate change problem solving. Much of Laura’s work focuses on how to incorporate climate model projections and their uncertainty into decision-making processes. As part of this work, Laura is also helping to develop GLISA’s collaborative problem solving environment: www.glisaclimate.org.

Laura completed her master’s degree in Geography from Northern Illinois University in 2012, where her studies focused primarily on evaluating the quality of a popular climate model data set for climate applications in the Great Lakes Region. This work has directly benefited GLISA’s role in making recommendations of climate projections to use in decision-making. Prior to working for GLISA, Laura worked at the University of Michigan (U-M) on problems related to how climate models represent atmospheric processes in the eastern half of the United States. Laura completed her Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus in climate physics from U-M in 2009.
