Jeff Privette started his career at NASA developing methods to monitor Earth’s environment from space. He was NASA's Deputy Project Scientist for the Suomi-NPP satellite and led validation programs for two satellite instruments (MODIS and VIIRS). He joined NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) in 2006 to lead a new NOAA program developing multi-decadal climate records. He led NCDC's Remote Sensing and Climate Services divisions prior to NCDC’s transition to NCEI -- a merger of NOAA's three former data centers. He currently is Deputy Director of NCEI's Center for Weather and Climate (CWC), where he manages CWC's portfolio of science, stewardship and services activities involving 125 Federal, contractor and university employees. He is an avid runner, flag football coach and dad. Jeff received his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado, but more importantly, he received his BSE in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. Go Blue ;)
